Art Collection Project Scenario B type

As an art consultant, I was commissioned to build art collections for a boutique hotel and have been given a budget of 1,000,000. The hotel in construction, as boutique hotels go, will be quite pricey and luxurious, targeting young (pre-middle age) wealthy men and women in their 30s-40s. The Arte 44 will utilize the latest in technology and innovative spaces, and will also dedicate its operations to supply its visitors with memorable experiences and spectacular soires. I suggested that the Arte 44 Collections would be committed to showing new media works, which move the viewer through experimental time-based and multi-sensory approaches.

Several organizations and institutions collecting and commissioning these types of new media artworks like Franklin Furnace (which claims to be making the world safe for avant-garde art) and the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as biennials were good guides.

ARTE 44 Collections

With the opening of The Boutique Hotel, our collection of contemporary visual art, Arte 44, will begin with 20 works of the new media artistic experiments of our time. The pieces, which will be displayed everywhere the lobby, the restaurant, the bar, and even inside the rooms, will be thoroughly planned out in order to enhance the guests overall aesthetic experience.

The current developments of media have brought about tremendous improvements and modifications not only in our daily lives but also in our sensory appreciations. The technological developments that have occurred over the last decades, especially, have led to the expansion of the amount and range of these new media works being made in artistic contexts. As electronic media evolve in accessibility and peoples understanding, artists have come to take advantage of their dynamic characteristics, making their use diverse and widespread in contemporary art. This growing acceptance of electric media can be observed through an exploration of recent history. From Neo-Constructivism and New Tendency to Arte Povera, Post-minimalism and conceptual art, artists have used new electrical-centric media such as neon lights (and). Performance art and Fluxus have led to the birth of early examples of art on film and video. The perception of new media has changed significantly since their beginnings and gradual development into the easily recognizable media of today. In fact, there seems little point in calling them new anymore, a position which has led to the adoption of the term variable media, which encompasses all ephemeral mediums, including performance art. Yet, the term new media may still be used to describe certain types of artworks, those that make the best new and dynamic use of media.

The Arte 44 Collections goals are to ask, as well as search for the answers to the questions What is new media art And what artistic changes has new media art brought The Arte 44 Collection also aims to nurture contemporary art scenes and the cultural benefit and overall experience of our guests. We would do this by acquiring artworks that decidedly reflect the experimentation of new media from diverse and global contemporary communities.

For the Arte 44 Collection, works by emerging artists as well as established artists will be acquired. From these, several thematic streams will be found in the Arte 44 Collections. First, there will be some artists who appear to be obsessed with how to visualize the effects of light. Electronic media provide a means for an art piece to consist of light itself. Artists have come to use neon, fluorescent, laser, and other forms of electric light. In these methods, light itself becomes the medium, and it transcends stylistic categories and expands the aesthetic experience. Second, the collection will include a rich representation of media installations that explore time a concept central to video artists.

Time can be manipulated in video installations through the utilization of several monitors or projection surfaces. The new art cinema will be comprised of installations that are multi-screened, panoramic, and dome-projected. Third, contained in the collection will be interactive artworks that exploit new technology. These types of pieces encourage the active participation of spectators whereas traditional artworks are only capable of making one-way presentations. The audience will be given the ability to modify or complete artworks, and this would allow them to experience art in a unique and memorable manner. The highlights of the collection would be artworks by James Turrel, Olafur Eliasson, and Bill Viola.

The Arte 44 Art Collection will serve as a stage for the evolution of new media art and it aims to position itself as one of the leading collections that focus on new media and attract attention within and outside art world. It is hoped that the extended aesthetic experience offered by Arte 44 would be seen and felt by its visitors in such a way that that they would not consider it as a novelty but a place for repeated patronage wherein the experience is always unique.
